Book fair did GREAT!! $3158
in scholastic $$ we would only get 15% if we would have taken a cash
payout so we opted for scholastic $$

Change drive brought in $298.19!! Great

Voted to keep the book fair in the spring
the same as fall ½ price books available.
Spring Dance will be a luau
on March 23rd

We will have a “Book Hut” at the dance
with books for sale to kick off our spring Book Fair!

Fall Festival/ 1st
annual chili cook-off will be held on November 19th 3-7

Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast

PTO is sponsoring a Book reading contest,
your child takes RC Tests/ Sight word Tests and when they reach their
goals their name goes in a pot, at the end of the year a name will be
drawn out to receive 2 season passes to Carowinds!

Girls On The Run: we are
trying to bring a GOTR to Sharon; it is a positive youth development
program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire
self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. It’s a 12 week
program that will start in February and run until May in which your
child will have the opportunity to run in a 5k.

Mr. Sheets:

Christmas Program will be K-2 on December
8 from 6:30 – 7:30

Focus has been or closing reading gaps
o
TA’s have been trained in a program called
corrective reading; the focus is on students reading fluently.
-
Teachers are focusing on fluency phrases
in reading to also help students read faster which also will help with
comprehension
-
Kindergarten has begun working with
Letterland with a focus on lower case letters and their sounds
-
Thunderbird Time is in full swing as
regular ed teachers are working to close the reading gaps occurring on
that weeks objectives

7 Habits
o
We have focused on Habit 1. The last 2
weeks “Be Proactive I am a responsible person, I take initiative, I
choose my actions, attitudes and moods, I do not blame others for my
wrong actions, I do the right thing without being asked, even when no
one is looking.
o
A bulletin board outside the cafeteria has
examples of this taking place and noted
o
We will start Habit 2 next week “Begin
with the end in mind
